Memory Tree
I made this memory tree to take the place of a guest book at my wedding. When guests arrived at the reception, they wrote a little message for the bride and groom and tied their "wish" to the memory tree. After the wedding, I put the all of the wishes in our wedding scrapbook.
Inspiration How-To
You will need:
40-50 dried branches (available at any craft store)
A bouquet of artificial flowers (your choice)
Thin, bendable wire
A glass or ceramic pot
Glass beads for filler
1. Unwrap bunches of branches so that the individual branches are laid out.
2. Cut the flowers from the bouquet & randomly attach them to the
branches using the thin wire.
3. Place the glass beads in the bottom of the pot.
4. Arrange the branches in the pot so that the tree looks full and equally distributed.
Memory cards can be made by cutting card stock into small squares & attaching a piece of string to the cards through small hole-punches. Beads can also be placed at the end of the string to add color & decoration.
This memory tree can also be used as a home decoration! After our wedding, I took all of the "wish" cards off the tree and put it in our bedroom as a decoration (see "Just an ordinary day...).
Monogram Toppers
When I was shopping for wedding cake toppers, I couldn't believe how expensive they were. I knew I wanted to use our monograms, but wasn't willing to spend over $50 a piece. So, once again, I decided to make something that was fun, functional, and still classy. We served cheesecake at our wedding, so these toppers worked perfectly for our cheesecake on the head table.
Inspiration How-To
You will need:
wooden letters (available at most craft stores)
Small wooden dowel
Drill & drill bit (same size as wooden dowel)
Silver spray paint
Wax paper
Ribbon
Jewels (stick-on)
1. Spray paint the wooden letters, wooden dowels, and symbols & place them on wax paper.
2. Wait for the paint to dry completely and spray a second coat of paint on the letters.
3. When the paint is dry, wrap the colored ribbon around the ends of the letters (as shown above) & place the jewels on each letter.
4. Attach the dowels to the letters & they are ready to go.
Canister Candles
These beautiful candles are going to be a few center pieces at my sister-in-law's wedding this summer. They are so simple but so elegant at the same time! Without the bows they can be used out on the patio for a summer barbecue too.
Inspiration How-To
You will need:
Glass Jars (with or without clips)
Frosted glass spray paint (@ most craft stores)
Tulle or Ribbon
Candles
1. Spray the glass jars with frosted glass spray paint (2 or 3 coats is best) and let it dry for a couple of hours.
2. Place the candles in the jars.
3. Tie bows around the lip of the jar using tulle or ribbon.
4. Light the candles (you may need a long lighter!) and you're done; how easy was that?!
